Because of Coronavirus. It is no longer logical to "bring a human" to carry your golf bag for you on a golf course and have them get close to you just to hand you a golf club or give you tips. It goes against social distancing. I'm sure people will give "side eye" when they catch "privileged" golfers not following social distancing on the golf course. They are already jealous of these people so better not give them any excuse to criticize right?
all the critics can say of the Golfer on the course using this robot is. "ummm okay? he's following social distancing." That's about it.
Plus no golf course especially now wants to have a coronavirus infection on their property. So they will buy anything to give the illusion that they "care" about their customers health by eliminating human caddies with robot ones.
Bad for business.
Sadly golf courses will need to replace caddies with robot ones.
