Sure I can. The US intentionally inflicted mass civilian casualties to terrorize the nation and then to frighten Russia. It was far, far worse than what Israel is doing in Gaza. This is indisputable. The crimes of the Japanese military government and Hamas either are or aren't a good reason to massacre civilians. Which is it?
When you have an opportunity to stop a war and prevent further bloodshed, it’s usually a good idea to pursue that option. Is the immediate cost too high? Only if it doesn’t prevent further bloodshed. What we’re seeing in Gaza is a situation that explicitly doesn’t prevent further bloodshed. Therefore the cost is too high.

Remember, by demilitarizing Japan, and focusing on business and innovation, it made Japan into one of the most successful nations on earth. Proof the war machine isn’t necessary. Yes, the US government needs to do this too.

I don't know whether it will prevent further bloodshed. I suspect not, but it's not out of the question.

So, by demilitarizing Hamas, Gaza can be become a successful nation? That seems unlikely, but who knows?

Proportion? This is not a game of checkers, it's a war.

Note: The quote was from President Biden. Israel alone could not have conducted the massacre.

US allowed the ceasefire in Gaza to pass the UN resolution; however, Isrealis appear to be intoxicated with power and revenge. This is not a good look for the 'Chosen People'. As a result, in Canada at least, hate crimes toward the Jewish population is on the increase...

Which is why they want their own state, no matter how small and barren. Chinese can commit ongoing genocide against Muslims in China, MidEast states can massacre Muslims when they want, Americans can do the same... but where are the hate crimes or the accusations of intoxication there?

I am not saying Israel cannot be criticized, but there is a glaring inconsistency in singling Jews out. Maybe it's anti-semitism, maybe it's hatred of the West, maybe it's something else.

If you have standards, they must be applied equally to all - otherwise they are not standards at all.

What do you suggest Israel should do about Hamas, a gang of thugs openly devoted to genocide themselves?

@Daniel Owens - Biden pulling ahead in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, that gives him 270. That's a win. That's with Trump winning Nevada, Georgia and Arizona. I just did the map - https://www.270towin.com/

270-268 for Biden.

And that's before the DNC has unleashed all the ads. National Abortion Ban, coming after Social Security, Medicare, Healthcare etc.

Scary thought of a second term of Biden what a nightmare. Also, they are tied in MI, WI, PA. It will be close wins in key states. I think Trump will still win but again scary thought someone as bad as Biden even has a 30% chance of a win in 2024.

If a state does not follow a unanimous UN resolution, they cannot be afforded the same security or status. These are the standards.

I don't have a solution to this age-old conflict, but how much is enough? At some point the killing must stop. Would it not be better to try to live together? If not, what is your solution?

Tied or Biden ahead, when Trump was ahead on all of them. It's all trending Biden now. And Trump isn't doing himself any favors with bad move after bad move. See his rant yesterday on ACA, already have him on the defensive. Then he can't even spell check his rants, making up words and such.

Plan for 2028

@JB Lions I'd give Trump 70% chance of win and 30% chance for Biden. I think Trump will catchup in polling the month before the election. I am a strong American Patriot who can't afford 4 more years of Biden. Most Americans are smart and would never re-elect Biden.

Why would he catch up? There is no good news coming for him. He's running a 1 issue campaign. He's already trying to fall back on big issues like abortion ban and ACA/healthcare because he knows his actual views on them are losing views. He gets more frenzied as we get closer, money is hurting, Republicans voting for Biden or staying home. It's why you're seeing the polls start to trend to Biden now.

Most people are just tired of him, Trump fatigue. See his loss as a blessing in disguise for your party. He damaged the party pretty bad, don't know if you can come back from it, could take a few election cycles to be competitive again.

@JB Lions He would catch-up because sometimes the last few weeks get closer. Even by next month Trump could jump back ahead. The legal stuff seems to help Trump. If RFK Jr. stays in the race it will help Trump a lot in MI, WI, PA. We shall see if Trump wins just narrowly if RFK Jr. drops out. I am doing everything I can to get my GOP friends in key states to vote in 2024!

@JB Lions Do you think DeSantis could become the nominee in 2028? Or, is DeSantis political career over?

RFK Jr. is already factored in those polls - https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24496689-cnn-pennsylvania-poll

Once he drops out, it'll give Biden just a bigger lead.

Then check what voters care about:
Economy
Protecting Democracy
Immigration - 15%
Abortion - 11%

That's from Pennsylvania. His one issue he's running on, just 15%

Not sure. He went too far right. Voters in your party don't seem to like him much. He was getting beat by Trump and Nikki.

Your party seems pretty split. From far right MAGA/Trump types to traditional Republicans.

Try thinking long term. If you want your party to survive, you should convince them to stay home or vote for Biden. MAGA is poison if you haven't figured that out yet. Kill it this November. Whatever is left of your party, that's the new foundation. Build from there.

Trump is not going to win, only thing he can do is hurt your party more. When he loses again, it'll more election is rigged nonsense and other crazy stuff.

I love when the GOP house blocks Democrat bills especially when they are huge spending bills. What are your thoughts on that?

I'm cool with Republicans exposing themselves, helps Biden. You seem to be warming up to Biden, I have hope for you. Deem down, you like when Republicans make bad decisions, that's says something.

What I found interesting is how Nikki would slaughter Biden in November, I think Democrats love her and that is why some state primaries were close because Dems showed up and voted for her. I bet Nikki might be nominee in 2028. Trump is polling decent, however since he can only run 2024 (when he wins), it will be interesting to see who is 2028 nominee. I hope Nikki endorses Trump.

That wouldn't help her in 2028, she needs to distance herself from MAGA. And it shows Republicans are wanting more traditional types. Enough to sway the election to Biden, once they stay home.

She is a woman of strong moral fiber I think even Democrats would agree with that. She is a tad on the liberal side but has good cross-over appeal. I think GOP will be preparing for 2028 even after Trump wins 2024. Seems like right after an election the media and politicians are talking about the next election.

The funny thing about the polls trending towards Biden now, is Trump sees this and gets more frantic, which just makes the polls trend even more to Biden. See Trump's breaking down yesterday with his ACA rant.
I mean look at this, just the first line of his breakdown/rant yesterday:

"I’m not running to terminate the ACA, AS CROOKED JOE BUDEN DISINFORMATES AND MISINFORMATES ALL THE TIME"

You think that looks good for him? Then pushing Bibles. It'll get even worse.
