According to a report out of the UK today, American sports teams have signed up for new internet domains which help the marketing of legitimate event tickets.
Every team in the National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), and National Basketball Association (NBA) will be registered for ‘.tickets’ web domains being sold by London based start-up Accent Media.
Additionally, other premium domain names such as ‘nfl.tickets’ and ‘superbowl.tickets’ have been snapped up.
The .tickets domain is regulated so that only authorized websites can get the domain, so the intention is that only bona fide sources of event tickets can be found on that domain.
