U.K. nabs 43 in Net child porn probe

LONDON (Reuters) -- British police said on Thursday they had arrested 43 men on suspicion of having downloaded and distributed images of child abuse on the Internet.

The men are suspected of having accessed pay-per-view child porn sites and exchanged images of children being abused, a police spokesman said.

The arrests were made early on Wednesday, when some 350 officers swooped on the suspects across London.

"A large quantity of computer equipment was seized and the men were taken for questioning at police stations across the capital," the spokesman said.

thanks bobbi! the whole thing sounds fishy to me. he said he informed the cops beforehand that he was "doing research" on child abuse for his book, because he was abused as a child.... by "doing research" he meant paying for multiple child pornography sites with his credit card.

first of all, why would you need to see naked children for research for your autobiography?

second of all, since when does telling the police beforehand that you're doing a crime make it legal?
