I am not sure if this topic has been discussed before here but I am relating a personal experience with the hope that NO members ( newer ones like myself ) will fall into the same problem.
I bought a domain name a coiuple of months back right here in NP itself and after the usual GD push it was in my account. But after changing the nameservers and waiting 48 hours for it to propagate, this domain still can't be used. thinking that something might be worng with my hosting servers I changed back to GD parking NS.
Left it for a week and when I checked it again, it still did not show up and says that there is no such domain name. I quickly called GD support and they checked it and told me their NS has problems etc... and I should wait further. But I knew that it was more than that but I could not do anything at that moment. So i just waited for a couple of more days and when the problem persists, I called GD support again to complained. To cut a long story short, this went on for another few weeks and about 5 support calls and finally they escaled it further.
After 2 days the truth finally came out and they told me the domain was BLACKLISTED not by Google but by http://www.surbl.org/. This is a first for me after buying hundreds of domains. If your domain is blacklisted by them, you cannot use your domain. it will show up when you type the domain in the browser as that the domain is UNREGISTERED.
So I went looking for a website that is able to check BLACKLISTED domains and true enough, it was blacklisted in http://www.surbl.org/.
So if you are buying a domain name, especially an espensine one, I would suggest you run it through this website to check. I don't know if it is 100% foolproof but it is better than nothing. Here is the webiste that I used to check for blacklisted domains. http://www.blacklistalert.org/
As for my own domain that was blackisted, I let it slide cos I need to write to http://www.surbl.org/ and provide them with a bunch of info to try to get them reinstated But i guess, if the domain is already tainted, I will not be using it anymore.
Hope this post helps someone. Thank you.
P/S: - Bring a newbie, I always thought Google was the almighty but it seems http://www.surbl.org/ is even mightier and it can make your domain completely unregistered.
