Hi, I'm wondering which price has the highest STR.
And if this really matters.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
This means there is no impact for pricing a name valued under 2K anything between $1.99 and $1999?
Not necessarily.

These tests were done for domains that have a minimum appraised value of around $1,000 or more. Those appraisals were done by a veteran domain appraiser in the case of NameBio, or a veteran team of domain appraisers in the case of SquadHelp.

None of those appraisers would appraise cook-the-best-hamburger.live as worth $1,000 or more, so it wouldn't apply to it.

We hope that helps.

Awesome tips guys!

Thank you. For higher prices, do you still recommend ending them with 88, or better to change that?

For instance, what is your favorite pricing strategy for these price points?

- Around 5k: 4888, 4999, 4995, 4988, 4950, 5000?
- Around 10k: 9888, 9999, 10000, 9950, 9995?
- About 10k: 12800, 12500, 12888?
- Higher let's say 35k: 36000, 35999, 34950, 35000?

Thank you so much!

Where does this $x88 $xx88 $x888 etc. frenzy stem from? I know there is someone who regularly reports sales of $xx888, but now everyone and their mother seems to be using those kind of prices when the traditional charm pricing (odd number endings) would make more sense, at least when we are talking about ”consumer level” prices, otherwise I wouldn’t even bother with charm pricing.

Yes I know about the value of number 8 when you’re focusing on the Asian market, because Asian sellers & buyers emphasize luck and good fortune, but I still find its popularity baffling.

As counterbalance, 88 is a neo-nazi symbol (at least in Europe; e.g. it's banned on Austrian license plates) and 1488 is also used by white supremacists.

If a buyer doesn't like a domain, pricing it at $1988 rather than $1995 or $1999 or whatever is unlikely to convince them to change their mind.
Pricing style matter too, if a specific domain listed at $2000 and other same niche domain listed at $1988 or even 1999 then def this attract buyer thought..

I already have all my domains priced, I'm going thru them all again to check/maybe reprice. I checked 4 big domainers what they're doing:

Media Options - 00 - bigger domains/price, like
85,000
125,000
199,000
249,000 .....250,000 not sure why with that

Buy Domains
288
388
488
588
688
increments of 100 on up

Huge Domains
495
595
695
795
985
increments of 100 on up

Mike Mann - Domain Market
1888
2888
4888
8888
9888
14888
19888
24888
29888
39888
49888
59888
79888
94888
149888
194888
and so on

--------------
Don't think I want to do $100 increments like Huge Domains and Buy Domains. I think more like Mann, bucket approach. Have some set prices, evaluate your domains and pick whatever bucket is closer.

Think I'll also be changing to 00 or 50 at the end instead of 88, 95, 99 etc.

500
750
1000
1500
2500
5000
on up
something like that, still thinking about it

“8“ is lucky number in many cultures, including Chinese.

It’s the little tips & tricks. I’d price $1888 (Not in poll!)

Another reason is high similarity between 8 and 0.
Those who read very fast or don't read carefully or have problem with their eyes, may read 1888 as 1000 accidentially.

Some people may not easily notice the difference between 1888 and 1000.

* some fonts displays zero with ( / ) inside. It makes zero very similar to eight: if you add (X) to inside of zero it will look very similar to eight.

* On some screens such as old fashion digital watches, difference between zero and eight is only (-)

This could be the thing because "9" is the luckiest number in China
And 888 as well.

Maybe a bit of overthinking. But in Pricing strategy, it is well known that, e.g., 1999 is better than flat 2000.
Its called "Charm Pricing"
+ Buyers often concentrate subconsciously on the left digit, I think it is called the "left digit effect".
So 1,
Looks better than 2 :D
There are a lot of pricing strategies in Retail.

I use both 88 and 99 depending on the price.

The answer is: test for yourself.

Am i getting it right, that you make fun with the 2nd World War? But I'm glad you paid attention to history classes. In Germany, jokes like that are not appreciated.
As it happens, the USA was the zone of occupation 1945-1949 in Germany. So please don't make jokes like that. Even if you only wrote one number, it's pretty clear it wasn't random.

I would recommend you some history lessons. Cheers.

ending with 88 seems pleasing the Chinese. Statistically? a number with lower digits, which are 1,2,3,4,5, is more likely a thing of reality.

Most of them are going with $1988, I was wonder, that why people not going with $1999 or Round figure like $2000 or $3000 ?

Here I can see the attraction towards 88, Its looks like some design I think.

It matters, definitely. It should be simple for buyer. He or she should understand how much he or she pays. 1989$ or 1997$ is not good. 2000$ is ok. or 2200$. Or something like that.

I will go with 1988
'8' is a symbol of lucky

✅️ According to my view, $*88, $**88, $***88, etc. (the last portion of a price value) are more engaging.

Note: I sold a few domains with this type of pricing.

If it was 85 or 90 instead of 88, do you think the sales still happen?
