domains New Names with Ali Zandi: Postpone.com, WP.Academy, Hawaii.Life and More

Spaceship Spaceship
This week in NamePros.com’s New Names series, we take a look at five more recent purchases from @Ali Zandi, domain investor and director of sales and acquisitions at Perception.com.

In our previous New Names blog post, Ali revealed that he had acquired Raindrop.com for development, as well as over 1,200 five-letter Chip domain names.

In today's acquisitions, Ali looks to be concentrating more on the acquisition of some great new gTLD domain names, as well as a one-word .COM and a brandable domain name.

Postpone.com

Ali: I bought and sold this domain name a while ago - and recently, the opportunity to acquire it again came up. It's a fairly straightforward acquisition - one word, .com, and it has the ability to brand an app. While there are fewer opportunities for development on this particular name, it could very well be integrated into daily lifestyle. There are numerous tasks that I have that must get done through out the day, most of which I keep having to postpone. Much like a calendar's snooze option, Postpone could be built into a task organizer that allows you to postpone by a set time and so on. I thought it was a cool idea, so I traded some of my domain names for it.

Hawaii.Life

Ali: Why? Simple, I live in Hawaii! This domain name would make for a fantastic - all inclusive - informative blog about life in Hawaii. While this one will likely never sell, and I'll likely never have the time to develop it, it was more of a mantle decoration than anything else, but I wanted it - so I bought it.

WP.Academy

Ali: Personally, this is one of my favorite new gTLD's. While it's not as flashy as Travel.Agency and others, it is still representative of a massive market: WordPress. The entire world is getting online. More and more people every day are setting up blogs, eCommerce shops, and other types of sites. A majority of those people are using WordPress. It's no secret that WordPress is an amazing CMS, and it's no secret that a ton of sites are created to teach people how to use WordPress. Why not WP.Academy? It's the perfect brand name, and I will either develop it or sell it to the right buyer. It has a ton of monetization potential.

Toupon.com

Ali: Yup, a brandable domain name derived from Travel and Coupons. As you know, I'm a huge fan of anything travel related, and this one was no exception. There are only a few consonants that would make sense in front of the letters "oupon" - and T is one of the best ones. It is a rare name, and it can also stand for "Today's Coupons," and a whole slew of other words that start with the letter T. To the right person, this domain name is priceless. I love it as a brand name.

Cosmetology.School

Ali: This has 27,100 exact Google searches per month at a $13.28 CPC. It's the exact term that gets searched for when someone is looking for a cosmetology school. Other terms don't even come close in search volume. Cosmetology schools charge between $10,000 and $20,000 for tuition - sometimes even more. So you can imagine why the CPC is so high! Google search is also littered with ads for the search term: all 11 slots are taken up. This is a monster name, and it will either get developed into a lead generator or sold directly to a cosmetology school.

Thanks again to Ali for taking the time to share some of his recent acquisitions. If you missed it, Ali was one of the three Sherpas featured on Monday’s DomainSherpa Review, hosted by @Michael Cyger.

Hmmmm, you really don't see a market for Hawaii.life? Maybe not someone breaking down the door for it - but do you think through outreach and direct contact you could swing low X,XXX possibly?

I ask because I own the same extension in keyword "cooking", and that was my thought when buying it, but I like your GEO better. But I may be giving the new extension too much credit.

@Raindrops I see your "cooking" is better than.the alli's hawaii. Because hawaii is a geo word and your cooking is more applicable in everybody's daily affairs IMO. and.views.

Cheers

Until you actually live in Hawaii - you'd think that Hawaii domains are super in demand. But, I can tell you that we are at least 10 years behind the times here. Most locals don't even have websites, and most advertising is still done on.. like Craigslist and the newspaper - Yikes! :)

The average "Hawaii" keyword domain sells for $150 or so, and they are more than likely GoDaddy premium listings where the buyer typed it in, saw it was $150 and bought it. And you'll find that almost none of them are developed.

I've sold a couple nice .Life domains - both for around $5k/ea, but they were more universal and focused on startups instead of Hawaii.

site: cosmetics.school

I did register this name a few weeks after cosmetology.school was registered.

amazingly the Universal Intelligence has taught me how to put together (passable, functional) websites in under an hour, but to be fair I did spend > 3 hours on this one ,,

The phrase "Hawaiilife" is taken in 21 extensions. Not bad at all for a geo. I like it.

Postpone.com is nice as well.

I like hawaii.life the best. I instantly had 50 ideas. Now I'm an outside-of-the-box-thinker, but I think this one is a no-brainer. Forget the blog. What about a surf shop? How about a t-shirt company? How many t-shirts r bought by tourists per year? Brand and patent that SOB
