Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Today I made some price updates. I wonder if that could be the reason

I'm patient but there could be a bug
Check if they are "in review".

Check if they are "in review".

No, there are not in review, domains in review do appear when using the search box

In this case, they do not appear when using the search box. I get the message "Sorry, but we found zero results that match your criteria."

Thanks

Hi @411domains,
We've tested this out today, and it brings us to this page. Can you send us a DM with what you're seeing?

Show attachment 244999

@GoDaddy , I'm afraid I don't actually use those landers and I'm no longer testing them, but based on a quick check, it does appear that the domain store has been disabled. Again, this is just based on a quick check.

@ArielT , I'm afraid this has been an ongoing issue for quite awhile.

It's definitely not resolved yet, but it is my understanding that they are working on more of a permanent fix. (Perhaps something with fewer band-aids, less duck tape and chewing gum.) :)

Yes, I agree, not resolved yet

I just checked again and 1 has disappeared again ( there could be more )

I just checked again and 1 has disappeared again ( there could be more )

I did a price update earlier and the following happened:

1. An entire portfolio of Fast Transfer active domains were downgraded to pending opt-in.
2. 40-50 names disappeared and became unsearchable in beta, but searchable in classic.
3. Domain count changed.
4. Several domains were deleted altogether.
5. The prices did not update anywhere. (Not even the Afternic landers.)

@GoDaddy , It's 2023, why does it take 1 1/2 hours to upload a simple spreadsheet??? What is that all about? (1/2 just to begin the upload)

In the time it takes to upload a spreadsheet at Afternic, I can upload at least 20+ of the same spreadsheets anywhere else. (Except for DAN, who now seems to be having regular upload issues. Hmmm...Coincidence?)

Further, it should not take 24-72 hours for pricing to update in the standard networks or the Afternic landers for that matter. (Lander pricing should be the very first thing to update.)

In what universe is this considered ok?

That said, rather than wait for these guys to figure it out, I made my entire portfolio disappear.

I'd rather have nothing listed than have the illusion that everything is listed.

The irony is, even though the entire portfolio was removed, several hours ago, everything is still appearing as listed, but unavailable to purchase if a buyer tries adding it to their cart.

@GoDaddy

Hey guys, what's up with never ending ''pending'' status on some of the names? Can't you just throw them one side or another, so we don't contemplate pending names till the end of the eternity?

Another thing - would be nice to come up with some sort of filter to be able to copy-paste names in bulk and call them out in the system for repricing or deleting purposes in bulk - not one by one).

Thanks!!
Hi @VadimK,
Domains in Pending Review status land there for several reasons, including a registrar transfer, and a number of other domain changes, designed to keep the safety and integrity of Afternic by flagging domains for review after these changes. The Afternic team is, though, looking at ways to amend the Pending Review infrastructure to tighten this system further. For now, a message to [email protected] will allow customer service to manually review the domains.

Thanks for your feedback on bulk updating and filtering. We plan on adding bulk features in 2024!

Hi @ArielT
We're sorry to hear that. Can you email your Afternic ID and the domain in question to [email protected]? This will help our team to look into this.

"We plan on adding bulk features in 2024!" The comedy continues!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, these basic, industry standard bulk & filtering functions should have been available from day 1 of beta...years ago.

My Afternic experience isn't packed with cotton candy, rainbows and chocolate sprinkles, so I don't think you really want hear about it, but I will say that it took 24 hours for the listings to be removed. This is unacceptable.

If the goal is to improve experiences, I believe very first thing everyone on the @GoDaddy Afternic teams need to do is study the two words below and ask themselves which one best describes them and their efforts.

@GoDaddy

Afternic, please check the following scenario:

1. I have a domain listed at Afternic, FT activated, landing page (NS3/NS4) is OK, the domain is at Namecheap.
2. I move the domain from Namecheap to Dynadot, because I want to benefit by SEDO's MLS.
3. I delete the domain from Afternic, and relist it. This is because I want to trigger Afternic's FT again.
4. I receive the Afternic FT email, I receive the Dynadot email, I enable FT for that domain in my Dynadot account.
5. But in my Afternic account, the domain is stuck in "pending review" status. So I have to contact your support, because I use NS3/NS4, and instead of showing the "ask for price" message on the landing page, I see "This domain is registered, but may still be available."

Thanks!

Most of my domains are at GoDaddy, I have some at Dynadot.

For those at Dynadot that I want to list on Afternic for fast transfer, which is the preferred method:

1. Listing them straight on Afternic, wait for emails from Dynadot. I've tried this half an hour ago, still waiting. This is how I usually do it with GoDaddy names.

2. Then I tried another method I saw in Dynadot, listing them on Afternic thru Dynadot after linking my Afternic account with Dynadot. Tried a couple of names, plugged them on some other registrars like GoDaddy and Dotster and it was pretty much instant. Just checked the domain I tried this out with listed on Afternic itself.

After listing on Afternic domains registered on Dynadot check the domain on Dynadot if it has the option to opt in

The email use to take more time

The 2 I listed on Afternic are still under Review.

Just tried listing another on Afternic thru the Dynadot interface and it was instantly available thru the network.

So with Dynadot names, will just list on Afternic thru Dynadot.

Hi @pinkdragon,
Re-adding the domain to your account likely triggered the review system due to the change of registrar. Contacting support to review this domain is the best course of action, but it's valuable feedback to understand as we look at potentially adjusting In Review. Thank you for sharing this.

Hi @UIunique,
Landing page selection is accomplished through the Sales Lander column on your Afternic portfolio page. Could you take a look to see if your landing page is listed as Buy It Now (BIN)?

If you prefer to use the Buy It Now lander by default, you can change the default settings in your Sales Lander settings page, so that any new domain names added to your Afternic account are displaying Buy It Now landers by default.

You can now purchase Registry Premium aftermarket domains through GoDaddy search and GoDaddy Auctions!

If you’re selling Registry Premium domains on Afternic, these will now show up at GoDaddy Auctions and in GoDaddy search! Here's an example from GoDaddy search.
godaddy-search.png

For sellers, this is additional exposure for your Registry Premium domains.

@GoDaddy

I see Godaddy and all others are showing a "premium" tag for standard renewal new tlds sold by owners

As registries have their "premium" tiers with high renewals, this may be confusing for prospective buyers to see the stardard renewal sold by owner also with the premium tag added

I suggest for the stardard renewal fee sold by owners show them as: Domain for sale: sold by owner.

Instead of "premium".

Or add the text "stardard renewal fee of x price"

Thanks

New issue with Afternic!

Domain names that are successfully listed on Afternic account are not visible on Afternic marketplace. Is there anyone facing this issue?

Afternic is totally messed up.

There's only one fundamental thing they have to do: LISTING DOMAIN NAMES!

Since they can't even do that, what is the purpose of their existence?
