I know it's just my 21st century impatience. But why the heck is Sedo so slow to verify domains to list for sale. I mean, if the TXT info is there (and it always is, that's the first thing I do) how long can it take to verify? It's like the stone ages.

And I'm talking about domains that are not new.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If there are no ownership conflicts - they add domains almost instantly (if TXT records are correctly set and propagated).

However, if there is an ownership confict - they still process it manually. In this case, you should have receiived an email "Please confirm your ownership - domains already listed" with instructions how to add TXT records (even if you added it already). Last time, I returned in a couple of days - and the conflicting domains were already added to my acct.

You might have DNS issues.

I'm uploading thousands at times and they're activated in minutes. Never had any problem with that.

I suppose anything is possible. But I'm not new to DNS and backend/Linux/domain management (I design websites and manage PPC/analytics and have for years, so tech issues unlikely). I never have this trouble with any other marketplace listings. Only Sedo.

First add the TXT files to the DNS. Then, after 15-30 minutes, add the domains to Sedo. The domains will be approved almost instantly then.

If you first add the domains to Sedo and then upload the TXT files, it will take more time to be approved.

At least this is what I have seen when adding a few domains to Sedo.

Yeah. Usually about 50/50 when I do it, but I'll try that again.

Hi all,

Adding the TXT record before adding the domains to your account will speed up the verification. However, when you verify with the TXT record then the verification process should be pretty much instantaneous regardless to when the TXT is added. If its not for some reason, our domain ownership checking program refreshes regularly and should then pick up the verification at that point. The domain verification speed can be impacted by the following:
  • Amount of total domains added to Sedo on that day. Some customers have hundreds of thousands of domains, if on a certain day the system receives a hugh amount of entries then that can slow the verification process down while our checker goes through each domain to catch back up. Thats why some days a domain can verify instantaneously and some days could take a few hours.
  • Although some will mainly blame the verification speed on Sedo, Response times of each DNS request are often at fault. Especially some DNS for certain TLDs which do not respond or are very slow, so total speed also depends on the response time of the DNS of your provider and TLD.
My advice would be, if you verify using the TXT method correctly and you have done it before resulting in a successful verification, if a domain you add is still not verified the next day then email [email protected] directly so we can check that there is no underlying issue, and get the domain verified asap manually if needed. Or if you dont want to contact us then just allow extra time and it will get verified.

All the best
Chris

Try to do it with by pointing to their. Nameservers. That would be instant. Later on, you can change your nameservers to whom so ever you want.

Hi,

TXT entry will verify even if it is slower at times. Parking a domain as verification may not always complete if there is a conflict of domain ownership as our system can not determine ownership from just the nameserver change if the domain is still listed in the old sellers account as they forgot to delete it. This is however rare and normally parking is fine to do when verifying, but we still recommend using the TXT method to verify with your ownership verification ID as it will verify regardless to whether it was listed in another persons account.

All the best
Chris

Hi

Domains only get deleted after your dont verify them for 10 days. Can you confirm what the reference number you received is in the automatic response to your email so I can check it?

Cheers

Sedo is weird lately. A few weeks ago the verification was almost instant. But now it's hit or miss. I can have 10 domains at the same registrar all with the same TXT record...and some will be verified right away and some stay in pending status until they are rejected.

No consistency anymore

Not just previous sellers...
Many registrars (directly or via parking rotation platforms) use @Sedo for the expired domains - they also don't delete anything... even if domain was renewed within grace period.

@Sedo
Just add one more button into your panel for instant TXT lookup... to skip your (very) long queue...

I am having issues as well.

Up until a few days ago Dynadot domains would verify in minutes

and NameSilo domains would always take a day or two, but at least it would work.

Now my Dynadot domains will not verify at all.

And this is strange - I had two domains that were verified

and when I went to add some more domains to Sedo

a few days later they were back to showing as not verified.

Now I can't seem to get them verified again.

Something is definitely off with the verification process.

I gave up on them years ago. Its not worth the hassle. I had text records added and still would not approve. Also removed privacy and that didn’t speed anything along. There are plenty of other easier options.

Thanks for your response. I am using SEDO for last three months without any issue but lately in last 20 days I also observed this verification issues. So if I am adding say 100 number of domains, average15% take more than week time in verification and then even 5 % got rejection and then I get emails from SEDO asking me to please relist again.

This has happened 3 times in last 3 weeks and everytime I responded proactively with an assumption that I am making mistakes. Even today I got two separate emails that SEDO informing that they are unable to verfy two of my domain names which I uploaded last Saturday and therefore I should again relist.

Well, I already invested significant of my time in last three weekends in listing and again relisting and this time I have not intention to spend my weekend doing same thing again. Therefore I am doing differently and planning to shift my domains to other user friendly and hassle free marketplace. Thank you

Sedo's verification is aggravating!

No other major marketplace makes it so hard to list a domain.

I guess they don't care if they lose business.

Unfortunately, Sedo, along with Afternic are the best places

to list if you want sales.

My marketplace sales are about evenly split between Sedo and Afternic.

Afternic has it's problems with listing too.

They don't require verification to list but domains will be stuck

in the "pending" state forever, and contacting them to fix it is

just as frustrating as dealing with Sedo's BS.

I agree. For me, it's been a recent issue as well. It worked well in the past

Maybe they updated something that caused the verification process to break

Small correction: Now received total 5 emails not 2 as mentioned earlier to relist my 5 domains which they were unable to verify :)

I absolutely love SEDO verification, not even once i ever have to contact their CC for the removal of past listings. Just add the text and within 24 hr it's done.

It seems the problems some of us are seeing started happening very recently.

In the past, most of my domains verified in minutes and sometimes in about 24hrs or so.

Now I can't seem to get my domains verified at all.

Nothing has changed as far as the DNS settings used in my domain accounts.

Everything is the same, only now verification is not happening.

I don't know why, but it seems some of us are having problems with it.

I add the text record to some and they just don't get verified. So i let it be..got no time to stress with Sedo.

They have fallen off imo

The only reason i consider them is because they still have some trust with the European market.
