was wondering if anyone has used the dropcatch discount club here with any success?
they have caught about 10domains but all of them went for the $59 or more in the end since I wasn't the only one requesting them or was paying them more, that's fine I guess. but today I entered a crap domain that I just wanted caught since I didnt wanted to manually sit at pc and wait till it drops so was ok to pay premium for the service.

Again they caught it, but in the result it has went with their partner - hugedomains... So they basicly got the domain,no1 else had shown interest in it but still somehow they took the domain themselves instead of awarding to me? what the flying f?

ok having searched around on this forum this is just stupid... seems like the discount club is total pile of $hit and is used only for hugedomains to get ideas for domains to register themselves? seems like it's not even worth using that discount club because you can't actually get any domain through there which aren't total giberish/totally worthless?

Am glad you understood that you are making these companies rich with your domain ideas.
I never used them again after a bad experience I had with them few months ago instead I try to figure out my own skills for my domaining business

Just because it isn't working for you doesn't make it "a scam" or a p.o.s as you out it. I've used it and have been very successful with it. It's childish and unprofessional to be throwing out the word "scam" about a business you don't know how to use properly. If you really want a name... bid the full $59. Just because a name seem like crap to you doesn't mean there aren't 5 other domainers considering getting it. Have I lost some names to other domainers who bid higher or to Hugedomains if they bid $59 sure. But it's not like I didn't know that's how the service works. I have been very satisfied with their regular backorder service as well their Discount Club Service. It's called capitalism and what you are experiencing is the driving force of the machine called competition.

I'm not talking as if I lost it to someone else willing to pay more for it, there were none...
to me seems like they just awarded it to themselves just because they can...
so the question was - has anyone got any good experience using their discount club or it's just a waste of time?

I have heard the same allegations that you raise - that the discount club could be a vehicle for giving ideas to hugedomains.com. It is certainly possible, and I don't think there is any way to figure that out. What I can say is that I've used the discount club several times. I've won names this way, some have gone to hugedomains and some ended up in auction. Most of them end up in auction or caught by someone else. I would say it has worked out about how I expected it to.

I used it in the past and sometimes I ended up with a name, sometimes it went to someone who placed a $59 backorder, sometimes it went to auction and sometimes someone using another backorder service got it. So it was definitely successful at times (around 15% of all domains that I backordered using their discount club ended up in my account).

I never saw some of my discount backorders go to hugedomains (the ones I didn't get all ended up with people who placed a backorder either at dropcatch.com or somewhere else), but that's of course only my personal experience.
